4.20.18 – Per recommendation from the Alarm, Locksmith, and Fire Sprinkler Industry Committee and approval of Labor Commissioner Melissa McLawhorn Houston, Oklahoma Department of Labor (“ODOL”):

Effective 1 June, 2018, the ODOL will no longer issue a Commercial Fire and Burglar Alarm license (trainee, technician, or manager); the license will be limited to Commercial Fire Alarm only.

Individuals who have previously been issued a Commercial Fire and Burglar Alarm license may retain the license for as long as it is timely renewed.  However, if an individual allows their Commercial Fire and Burglar Alarm license to expire they will not be issued a new Commercial Fire and Burglar Alarm License, instead they will be required to meet the separate requirements to obtain a Commercial Fire Alarm license and a Residential Burglar Alarm license.

For an applicant to be issued a Commercial Fire Alarm license (trainee, technician, or manager) they must meet the mandatory requirements identified in the Alarm, Locksmith, and Fire Sprinkler Industry Act, 59 O.S. §§1800.1 – 1800.17, and Oklahoma Administrative Code (“OAC”) 380:75-3-4.
